Chapter 9

In the box were several different items. The first one that caught Nicki's eye was Nicholas's gold chain, it had a cross with diamonds on it. She held it close to her chest and whispered "Rest in peace baby" and she placed it over her head onto her neck. Then she saw a red velvet ring box in the corner of the box, she opened it and was shocked. It was her ring she had from middle school. She thought she lost it. And surprisingly it still fit her. So she slid it on her ring finger and admired it. Then she lifted the yellow wrapping paper, and saw a small pink jacket with wooden buttons. It was the jacket that traveled with Nicki from Trinidad to New York. Every crease was folded just right every button was just right. She smiled and took it out of the box and put It to the side. Nicki noticed one last thing in the box. It was an empty photo album. There was a sticky note attached to it saying "this is for future memories". She grinned and sighed.  Nicki put everything back in the box and went upstairs to put it away, and tell Safaree. "Safaree look what Mama sent us!" She placed the box on the bed and opened it. First she pulled out the long heavy chain, and handed it to Safaree. " Wow Nigga's got sweet chains" "SAFAREE....it's Nicks." "Oh sorry" Safaree said placing it on the bed. Then she handed him the velvet box with the ring inside. He opened and said "didn't I get you this?" She giggled and said "yeah. I think so" she glanced down to pick up the pink jacket and placed it on the bed. Safaree smiled. Then she picked up the last item which was the empty photo album. She held it tight to her chest and walked over to the other side of the bed. She sat next to Safaree and put her head on his shoulders. She placed the photo album it his lap, and said "for future memories" he opened it and said "it's empty" and nicki whispered "that's the point...FUTURE memories". Safaree focused on the front cover. It was just plain white. That's all. Nicki asked "what should the title be?" Safaree pondered for a minute, and then looked her in the eyes. " Frozen In Time" She smiled and said " Perfect".
